Planning and Arrival

Many major airlines travel between the United States and Cancun, such as Delta, Southwest, American, United. Traveling from outside the US you have Air Canada, British Airways and Air Europa, just to name a few.

To enter Mexico, you are required to have a valid passport. Upon arrival, you will complete a tourist card, a portion of which will be torn off and you will keep, until your departure. You will need to arrange transportation from the Cancun airport to Tulum. The management company for Casa Maya Kaan will be glad to assist in this. Casa Maya Kaan is approximately a 2 hour drive from Cancun, Mexico. If you choose to rent a car at the airport, there are agencies for Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty and Budget just to name a few. There are a car rental agencies in Tulum as well.

What you will need to bring

The attire is always casual as there are no “dress codes” in Tulum. Shoes and a shirt are required in some restaurants. Some establishments only allow children over the age of 12, but those are rare. In the winter season, particularly at the beach, evenings may be cool so a wrap is recommended.   Getting around Tulum

Casa Maya Kaan’s staff can accompany you on short excursions to Cenotes, fishing spots and magnificent ruin destinations. The condition of the house car is never guaranteed so staff may need to either drive or ride inside your rented vehicle on excursions. There are also private companies that offer specific tours and all day adventures. All of these can be arranged by the management company prior to arrival.

  Wine and Spirits

Adequate wines and commonly requested spirits are available at a large local supermarket approximately 30 minutes from Casa Maya Kaan. There are no liquor sales on Sunday. If there is something special or rare that you would like during your stay, we suggest that you buy it in Cancun or Playa del Carmen; we are happy to recommend specialty stores.
